‘Mad Cars’ was my first game as a hands off Art Lead, and was the perfect chance to explore a more gritty approach than Push Gaming’s usual styles.

Taking inspiration from various examples of the post-apocalyptic genre, including Mad Max, Carmageddon and 2000AD, the artists outdid themselves on this one to create a line up of characters, vehicles and environments which would slot naturally into any of the aforementioned properties, all in support of meticulously crafted game design.

I’m particularly proud of the transitions and pop-up panels, the big win sequence especially!

It went on to earn a rare 10 out of 10 from the discerning reviewers of Big Win Board.


My contributions to the project included;

  • Art Lead, establishing target art style, game layout, asset lists and reference material

  • Art directing all illustration, UI and animation

  • Adding finishing touches to assets where required
